Building a Mobile Media Empire with Text Messaging
September 9, 2004 -- Headquartered in Aliso Viejo, CA, SMS Media Group (SMSMG) recently signed several key agreements to expand its mobile content offerings. The two year old company's goal is to become the largest aggregator of opt-in cell phone subscribers in North America. Over the last two years, SMSMG has launched mobile content plays including religious, shopping, entertainment and headline news alerts.
Now SMSMG has secured an agreement with Games Inc. (OTC BB:GMSI), a leading provider of lottery and games content, to provide mobile users with accurate and timely state Lottery Results." "Games Inc. is appreciative of the business from SMSMG and looks forward to a long and profitable relationship together," said Roger Ach, CEO of Games Inc. "Soon, we expect to be able to offer lottery online through the SMSMG Wireless Network!"
The company has also signed an agreement with UK based Russell Grant Astrology to provide daily astrology alerts. "These deals help us move toward our goal of providing quality, useful content to the mobile audience," states Gary Brooks, President of SMSMG. "We are building a mobile media empire," says Brooks... "Where millions of people can opt-in to receive personalized mobile content."
Unlike other text messaging services that charge the consumer for content, SMSMG offers its services for free, with exception to any messaging fees the wireless carrier may charge. "From our experience," says Brooks, "the consumer does not want to pay for content." In exchange for the free services, we embed tagline advertisements at the bottom of each message.
SMSMG has a mobile messaging system that is capable of broadcasting text messages to North American cell phones, and a unique ad-serving technology that drops advertisements onto the messages across its network.
Earlier this week, Verizon Wireless received a court injunction against a Rhode Island resident who conducted a spam attack on Verizon's network. "The carriers will not tolerate any spam on their networks," states Brooks, "that is why we have developed a confirmed opt-in system to protect the consumer from unsolicited messages." Consumers cannot receive the text message services offered by SMSMG without first going through a registration process that authenticates their cell phone.
SMSMG plans to announce additional content alliances in the coming weeks that further expand its offerings in the text message arena. To sign up to get content on your mobile phone, visit http://smsmg.com
